Many times a week I drove my car past this scene on my way to town to shop or run errands in a nearby town. It is part of a river that curves near to the road and often I have parked and watched the ducks here, or taken in the peaceful atmosphere. This one particular morning there was a misty fog rolling through and I had to capture what I saw and felt. The silence was deafening. I chose to do it in pastel because of the mist~pastel seemed the best medium to express that feeling and texture. This one is the second version I painted; the first one sold and then I painted this one in pastel to demonstrate my technique while showing my work at an outdoor event. I still love the scene and sold the painting to someone who used to live very near the location; she recognised it and loved it at first sight. She lives in a city now and this brings her mind home again to nature and its beauty. I painted the other side of this curve as well, and the same collector purchased it. How lovely it is to be able to provide that kind of memory and appreciation!
